In New York City, the food is sure fabulous! You can eat just about anything you can imagine. Each dining experience offers something unique. Reference this post to help you plan meals for your next getaway to the city that never sleeps.

Bagels in New York

We were thrilled to get bagels for breakfast!

  • Ess-a-bagel : This is definitely a spot to visit if you have a love for bagels. There are several varieties of bagels and cream cheese. Bagel sandwiches are also on the menu. This family owned business has been open since 1976 and has two locations.

  • Sarabeth’s works well for brunch and there are several locations throughout the city. This restaurant offers a power bowl that is full of flavor and gives you the energy you need to get your steps in while exploring the city.

  • Carmine’s Italian Restaurant is an Italian restaurant that serves food family-style. This is a good spot for families and those headed to a play near Times Square. The portions are gigantic, (even for family-style servings), so the food goes along way. I’m a huge fan of the Ceasar Salad, Penne Alla Vodka and the meatballs.

  • The Loeb Boathouse is located in Central Park on the water. Take in the views of the park and the buildings peaking through during your meal. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner. After your meal, rent a rowboat and enjoy time on the water. It really is a pleasant restaurant with American dishes and a great cocktail menu.

  • The Campbell Bar is located in Grand Central Station and will take you back in time. The space was restored and pays homage to John C. Campbell. He was a financier, that in 1923, had his office and reception hall in this building. Modern and classic cocktails along with elevated light bites are available. The Strawberry Fields is the cocktail I recommend and it goes well with the hummus platter.

  • You know I can’t go long without Mexican food. Bar Verde hit the spot with this gluten-free menu. The ingredients were fresh and fulfilling. The quesadilla with Cremini mushrooms was full of flavor, the blue corn tostadas and the guacamole were my favorite menu items.

  • My favorite restaurant during the trip would have to be Quality Italian. The dishes have a unique flair and are top notch. The Paccheri Amatriciana pasta dish was incredible! Request to sit inside on the 2nd floor and enjoy the views that look out onto the city streets.
