Just the Day Pack You Need

Hiking is a great way to spend more time outdoors, but let’s be honest, your adventure is a lot more enjoyable when you have the right gear.

For the past few years, I have used a Northface 18L pack that is lightweight, has plenty of space and overall has worked well. This is a backpack that I will definitely use again in the future and will work well for short distances, but the time had come for an upgrade.

I recently upgraded my hiking day pack and let’s just say, I am still excited about this purchase! It was time that I had a backpack that was a bit larger and also fit well. I made the choice to go with a women’s pack and that has sure made a difference.

After trying on a few different packs, I went with the Osprey Mira 32L. This backpack stood out to me for a variety of reasons…

  1. There is sufficient padding on the straps.

  2. The shoulder harness is padded for extra comfort.

  3. There is a TON of storage with several pockets to organize all of your snacks and hiking essentials.

  4. A rain cover is included in case you are out in the rain.

  5. The hip belt has pockets that are large enough to fit a phone. Perfect access for when you want to take a quick photo during your adventure.

  6. Osprey offers a lifetime warranty on their products!!!

  7. Last, but not least, I really like the Bahia Blue color tone of the pack! The Mira is also available in a Celestial Charcoal.

A Few Tips for Selecting a Day Pack

  • Determine your needs for a day pack

  • Think about what size pack will work best for your adventures

  • Determine if you would like a pack with hydration capabilities

  • Go to an outdoor store and try on a variety of packs

    • Think about which pack gave you the right type of support

    • Consider which straps are adjustable, so you can make sure the pack fits just right on your body

  • Shop around to find a great price for the day pack. Several companies carry the same name brands and products. Right now the Mira 32L is 15% off through Backcountry.

Purchasing new gear is always fun if you ask me. Some gear takes more time to research than others. Just make sure that you are happy with your purchase and that it fits your adventure needs.
