Take My Advice, Buy the Tickets

Coldplay, 2022

Attending concerts is one of my favorite things to do. I mean is there anything better than listening to some live music?!?

A throwback to the girls first concert

I love that I have had several opportunities over the years to go to festivals and shows spanning a variety of music genres. I am really thankful for attending each of those shows. In our house, we love music and it’s a lot of fun exposing our kids to a variety of musicians. The girls have been to a few concerts and it’s an ever better experience watching the girls take in the music and all of the surroundings.

A Few Concert Venues on My Radar

  • Red Rocks Amphitheater - I really can’t believe I haven’t made it to Denver to see a show at this well known outdoor amphitheater. If you’re in the Denver area, you can plan a visit to the amphitheater for a workout running the stairs or to take in the beautiful scenery. Check out to see who is scheduled to play.

  • The Gorge - Now the Gorge has been on my list the longest out of concert venues. Listening to a band you enjoy, with the Columbia River sounds pretty sweet. The Gorge is in a remote location, so camping is available at the venue. Talk about a good time!

  • Humphreys Concerts by the Bay - This San Diego venue is well known by many. I have wanted to attend a show for some time at this spot because of the intimate setting right on the bay.

A new bucket list item I have is to go to see a band I really like in another country. I mean what a great reason to travel.

Tips for Attending Shows

Aaron has gotten me some really good concert tickets over the years!

  • It could be my age, but I really am all about protecting your hearing. Order a pair of earphones that are made to wear to concerts. Believe me, the earphones work so well and you’re still going to have your hearing after the concert. I purchased Vibes for each of us in our family and they really came in handy when we had pit tickets for Coldplay.

  • Splurge on tickets for the shows you REALLY want to see. You might as well make the most of the event and you won’t forget the experience.

  • For bands you are somewhat familiar with, get the lawn seats. Relax and enjoy the music. I am a fan of bringing a blanket for the lawn and enjoying listening to the music. It’s even better when the weather cooperates.

  • Book a hotel room near the venue. This is worthwhile, especially when you can walk to the venue from your hotel room. Believe me, it’s so great to get into your hotel room without waiting for a ride share car to pick you up. Skip the traffic and you’ll be happy!

Ok, I have a few things for you to do….

Make a list of bands you’d like to see, check out their tour dates and plan your next your concert adventure! Leave a note in the comments with the name of a musician you would like to see in concert.
