5 Snacks for Your Next Travel Day

One of my tried and true travel tips is to bring a few snacks with you on your adventure. Call me crazy, but it’s not fun when you are hungry and traveling. With limited choices in airport terminals and quick layovers, you never know what kind of food you’ll have time to enjoy. Be prepared and it will make your travel day run even smoother.

Just remember that when you travel with food, you’ll need to take out your food when going through TSA. Storing snacks in ziplock bags works well, because you can toss the bag when you’re done. Reusable containers are even better and can be used again during your getaway. Just remember any liquids must fit in a 3.4 oz/100 ml container to go in your carry-on.

Travel Snacks

  • Nuts - Mixed nuts are a great snack for traveling. I like these raw mixed nuts pack from Target.

  • Dates - Medjool dates are my favorite and will give you the energy you need for a long travel day. Eat the date on it’s own or add a nut butter. It’s a great combination!

  • Fruit - An apple, berries or grapes are easy to eat fruit that can go in a reusable container or ziplock bag.

  • Chocolate covered almonds - Needing a little pick me up?!? Have a few chocolate covered almonds. They will cure that sweet tooth and give you a boost of energy, too.

  • Sandwich - You can’t go wrong with a good ‘ol pb & j. This simple sandwich is easy to make and it will keep you in a good mood during your travel day!

The last item I highly suggest taking with you is an empty refillable water bottle. This will come in handy once you are through TSA, to fill up with water. You can then stay hydrated during your travels.

Spend a few minutes prepping your snacks before you head out on your next flight. You’ll be so happy you have snacks that you like and you won’t have to wait in any lines or eat food you’re not crazy about. Believe me, this is a win-win situation. Works great when you are traveling by yourself and even better when you are traveling with kids.

Do you pack your own snacks for long travel days?
