Dream On
You’re probably familiar with the song, “Dream On” by Aerosmith. This is a song that I absolutely love for many reasons. It’s a song that is motivating and reminds me to keep dreaming while continuing to work towards those goals. Don’t be surprised if you see me driving around, belting the lyrics to this song when it is playing in my car. It’s just so good!
About eleven years ago, I started my first side hustle. I had a full time job as a teacher and I loved it! Our oldest daughter had been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for quite some time after she was born. We had a lot of medical bills, and taking on a flexible job was a good solution. I sold Stella & Dot products for nine years. It was a lot of fun gathering with others and sharing great products. The additional income helped pay for medical bills and over the years provided for additional fun for our family. A few years ago, I decided that I had learned a great deal with Stella & Dot, but I no longer needed to continue with the company. I had changed careers, my kids were older and I felt that it was a natural time to discontinue that part time job.
The last year of my Stella & Dot adventure overlapped with a new hobby. I was itching for a way to get outside of my comfort zone and had begun blogging. I really wasn’t sure what I was doing, but I loved it! I enjoyed putting my extra energy into the blog. After a year of writing my blog, I deleted it all! I mean, who does that? I did. I now look back and really wish I hadn’t deleted a year’s worth of blog posts, but I look at it as a learning experience.
At the end of 2018, I was missing my blog and recreated my current website. Life in the Desert continues to be a place where I continue to turn my dreams into a reality. I have learned about websites, a little photography and have taken a few online courses to improve my skills. I have loved having my very own business that has encouraged me to grow, meet others and share posts about travel, food and fun in the desert. Well, you know I share travels outside of the desert, with you too!
A year ago, I announced the opening of my online shop and have been blown away by the support of another dream that came to reality. This continues to be such an exciting business! I thank you for sticking around and taking part in this journey. Whether you read a post, liked a social media photo, shared the blog with someone, or purchased an item from my shop, I greatly appreciate you! It’s people like you that motivate others to continue to do what they are doing.
All of that background info, brings me to this… I want to you to do a little something for YOU that will help you reach your dreams and make them a reality. It could be something small or something HUGE! It could be taking that trip you’ve been wanting to take for years or starting a business of your own. You can definitly do whatever you put your mind to, I hope that you write down your dreams and come up with a plan to make it happen.
