Finished - A 30 Day Challenge

The month of September seemed to fly by and I owe a lot of that to the 30 day workout challenge.

I had mentioned previously that exercise has not been apart of my regular routine. I started the challenge to see if I could workout for 30 days in a row. I’m here to tell you that I did it and so did many others!

Things That Went Well

  • I set my alarm earlier than usual to make time for a morning workout. It was easier for me to exercise prior to everyone in the house awake and I was able to see 30 sunrises in a row!!

  • Working out at home helped with my exercise success! It was so convenient to head to my living room or garage to complete my daily goal. That way it didn’t matter what time it was, I didn’t have a good enough excuse to skip a day.

  • Limited equipment was required - I used a stationary bike or the Nike Training Club App to finish the 30 minute workouts. I ended up using the bike more often during the last 2 weeks of the challenge.

  • I checked in with others often - This was great to know how others were doing throughout the challenge and motivated me as well.

A Few Mishaps

  • There were a few days, that my iWatch died and I did not have my charger with me. I have learned to be better about charging the watch, so I don’t miss out on any steps or exercise from being counted.

  • Overall, I completed my workouts in the morning, but there were a few mornings that I worked out in the evenings. I definitely prefer a morning workout, it helped set the tone for the day and increased my energy levels.

  • The majority of the workouts were completed outdoors, but it was still pretty hot in Arizona, (even at 5:30 am). I never knew how much I could sweat!

  • I did find it a little more difficult to exercise during the weekend, when my routine was much more relaxed.

While this challenge was a bit outside of my comfort zone, I am thrilled that I made the commitment to myself to exercise daily. I am more energized and I have continued to exercise daily. At the start of the challenge, I did weigh myself and made sure I weighed in at the end. Overall, I lost 2 lbs. While this isn’t a significant amount, I feel that my clothes are fitting better, which feels wonderful! I had not made changes to the food I was eating. Now that it is a new month and I have the exercise component as part of my routine, I am going to put more effort into the meals that my family and I consume.

Thank you to all that participated in the challenge! It was a lot of fun to hold one another accountable. Leave a note in the comments if you would like to do another challenge in the future. If exercise isn’t apart of your current routine, I highly recommend making time for working out!
