Turning 40 and What's to Come

My siblings and I growing up in San Diego, California

A few weeks ago, I met a fun milestone with a smile. I turned 40! I am not going to lie, as this milestone birthday neared, I was looking forward to it. I found myself reflecting a bit more than usual as my birthday approached and overall just felt a feeling of gratitude.

I’m still feeling young and am thankful for each trip around the sun. Each decade has brought new experiences, which I am thankful for. There have been experiences that have allowed me to learn and really figure out who I am, what makes me happy and what is worth my time and energy.

I am truly grateful for my family and friends that have made each year so memorable. Birthdays definitely make me realize how quickly time flies and that its so important to make the most of the little moments each day. I say buy the concert tickets, book the hotel room and make all of those things you are wanting to do a reality. (Just you know, make a plan to make it happen. You know it’s the Capricorn in me).

At 40, I feel it’s a good time to reevaluate my travel bucket list. So ten of the items on my list include a lot of travel and a lot of fun!

Aaron and I were married in 2006

  • Visit each US National Park

  • Take a road trip from the west to the east coast of the US

  • Visit British Columbia

  • Volunteer in the NICU

  • Run a 5K

  • Visit Greece

  • Go to a professional soccer game in another country

  • Go to a F1 race

  • Take on a home DIY project that is a bit out of my league

  • Head out on a chartered boat trip

As a mom, I do want to pass along the desire to explore, a never ending interest to learn and the importance of treating others well to our girls. We’ve got a good start, but feel we have loads of adventures together in the future!

Truly love being the mom to these amazing girls!

I look for any excuse to plan a trip and celebrate a milestone, so I am going to do my best to make the most of 2022 and squeeze in a whole lot of fun and adventure.

What is something on your bucket list?

Thankful for friends that make turning 40 so much fun!
