Celebrate Earth Day
I always appreciate Earth Day, a day dedicated to demonstrating the protection of our environment. I sure love our planet and am happy to partake in activities that make our world better. Earth Day serves as a good reminder that you can sustain positive changes year-round, not just on Earth Day.
Ways to Get Involved
Clean up - Isn’t this everyone’s favorite thing to do?!? But really, spend time cleaning up trash. Find a location in your area that needs a little attention. Believe me, when you finish, you’ll be so happy with your results!
Conserve water - Arizona, like many states, is in a world of hurt and continues to face a very serious water crisis. Make a list of ways you can cut back your water usage.
We are all familiar with turning the sink off while brushing our teeth or taking shorter showers. If we all committed to these changes, I do believe it would make a difference. When I was recently on a boat trip, they encouraged us to turn off the water while soaping up. It wasn’t bad and it allowed us to be very aware of our water usage.
Run your dishwasher and washing machine when you have a full load.
Living in the desert also calls for having drought tolerant plants. The plants are beautiful and fortunately don’t require a lot of water to survive.
Reuse - What can you reuse? Is it a reusable water bottle? It is thrifting clothes? I’m a big fan of Madewell’s Trade - In Program. Can you use reusable bags when shopping? These are minor changes that can also make a big difference.
I’d love for you to carve our part of your day to enjoy the outdoors and set a goal for how you can make a positive impact on our environment.
