Fun in the Sun - The Sunshine State

I just returned from visiting Siesta Key, Florida and let’s just say I can’t wait to return! This was my first trip to Florida and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Over the years, I had heard different comments about the humidity and theme parks. I never had the desire to plan a trip to Florida, until I received an invite to celebrate my soon to be sister-in-laws bachelorette party. I knew then that this was just the reason to visit and see just what the Sunshine State had to offer.

Siesta Key is a barrier island, located just 20 minutes from Sarasota. This small island has been voted two times as the best beach in the U.S. The white sand beaches and the turquoise warm water is the perfect mix for this stunning getaway. It has the tropical feel that makes you want to forget about reality and be in the moment.

With several vacation rentals and hotels, there are places to stay that are all in walking distance of the beach. This is a must since the white sand beaches and warm water will be calling your name. A tip I received from a local is that the village does get very busy when school is not in session. During our visit, we stayed at an Airbnb and it was very convenient for a group. Our rental had all we needed and more to make our vacation enjoyable.

Weather wise, it was perfect. I would suggest visiting Florida during late April, early May. The humidity was never an issue and we even had a breeze throughout our stay. Temperatures were in the mid to high 80s and that was just perfect for me.
